The following are the planned events in 2009 at Oceanside Harbor and the surrounding community. Some of these are subject to change, but for the most part they are confirmed events. Check with the office to confirm your event and make your reservation early as we fill up quick on these fun days!

The Pacific Street Bridge
The long awaited opening of Pacific Street Bridge occurred Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008. Constructed with one lane of traffic, a bike lane, and a sidewalk for each direction, the bridge provides access to the Oceanside Harbor across the San Luis Rey River. A beautifully designed mural on the northern retaining wall that depicts children playing in the sand with Mission San Luis Rey in the background is currently underway and is expected to be complete within two weeks. The Pacific Street Bridge provides a safe, attractive, and environmentally friendly crossing for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, and will be able to withstand the worst of storms.

Ironman Competition
2009 Ironman 70.3 California
Ironman Triathlon is one of the most grueling events in the world of sports, and also one of the most inspiring. Ironman triathlon features a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a complete marathon (26.2 miles) all in succession. Athletes have 17 hours to complete the event (from the 7 a.m. start until midnight).

Set in the steamy confines of a cigar factory outside of Tampa in 1929, Anna in the Tropics revolves around the dramas of a Cuban family who owns the factory and the arrival of an intelligent, attractive man, Juan Jullian, who was brought in to read aloud Tolstoy's Anna Karenina to the workers. His arrival, however, turns their world upside down, sends the ladies swooning and makes their husbands angry.

Saturday on the Strand - The City of Oceanside actively supports being a bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community. The City hosts several events and activities that promote such a concept. Saturday on The Strand is a new upcoming event with the goal of connecting the community: walkers, bikers, runners, seniors, adults, and children, all in a relaxed car-free environment. This is a free, healthy, recreational event that brings residents together and encourages being a walkable and bikeable city. Saturday on The Strand will be held on June 20 from 9am to 3pm. The Strand will be closed to vehicle traffic between Breakwater Way and Wisconsin Avenue. Volunteers and police enforcement will be stationed to aid those residents who live on The Strand and need to access their residences. There will be free parking at all City lots and a “Bike Corral” at Betty’s Lot (parking lot south of the Pier Amphitheater). For those commuting to Oceanside via public transportation please check with the North County Transit District (NCTD) for Coaster, Sprinter, and Breeze schedules, as the transit center is located only a few blocks away from the Amphitheater. Saturday on The Strand will be held in conjunction with Race Across America (RAAM). RAAM is a 3,000 mile endurance bicycle race that spans the United States. The race starts in Oceanside at the Amphitheater and terminates in Annapolis, Maryland. Don’t miss being part of Oceanside’s first Saturday on The Strand event and cheering on the RAAM team riders! The race begins at Oceanside Civic Center, 330 N. Coast Highway 92054 (Corner of Mission and Coast Hwy) and finishes on the beach at the Oceanside Pier. The start times are as follows:

Oceanside Skate Park

According to Caliskatz.com, the newly opened Oceanside Skate Park is one of the coolest wood parks they’ve skated. It has a good flow to it and a cool view of the beach right adjacent to it. The wood is in good shape and there are plenty of rails and boxes around to mess with. They also have a couple half pipes. Oceanside Skate Park offers rentals. Park rules include park waivers, safety equipment, pads, helmets, skateboards and in-line skates only. The facilities are supervised at all times. Theater on the Water in Oceanside Harbor
Oceanside Sailing is launching a brand new tour, "Theater on the Water." This new tour includes guests participating in a mystery event throughout a cruise of the Oceanside Harbor. One of the fun components of the tour is the opportunity to stop at participating restaurants and establishments along the way, before the final clues are revealed.
"Theater on the Water" cruises will typically operate on the weekends (Fri-Sun) and includes a light snack and two non-alcoholic beverages with beer and wine available at the cash bar. The harbor cruises will depart at 6:00 p.m. and last 2 ½ to 3 hours. There is a minimum of 10 participants to operate the tour and maximum of 30 participants. OEX Oceanside - Kayaking, Fishing, Scuba Instruction
In addition to kayaking and fishing, OEX is now offering Scuba certification at their Oceanside location. OEX offers a variety of tours and activities ranging from 1 1/2 hours to 4 hours. Visitors may choose from a kayak tour of Oceanside Harbor, Whale Watching Tour (seasonal), Guided Kayak Fishing Adventure, Surf kayaking Adventure and more.
